Founder's event intro in Cantonese:
In a stressful city like Hong Kong, we are likely to normalize huge amounts of pressure from studying and working. We may often feel physically and psychologically fatigued, depressed, experience reduced performance, loss of interest, increased irritability, and little or no work satisfaction. In fact, these could be warning signs from our body that we cannot handle this pressure, and that we are struggling under the weight of our environment. These may be signs of “burning out”.
“Burn out” is a phenomena that creeps up on us and gradually overwhelms us. It can easily disguise itself as negative personality traits like irritability, laziness and lethargy. We often blame ourselves for being incompetent with guilt. In this talk, we invit Dr. Lo to share with us the journey from burn out to recovery. This includes: how stress related to burnout, symptoms of burn out and most importantly, what we should do to overcome this condition and reconnect with our sense of motivation.
Speaker: Dr. Lo (Lecturer in Psychology in tertiary institutions / Member of American Psychological Association (APA) / Associate Fellow of Hong Kong Psychological Association (AFHKPS))
